Delhi Traffic Police issued approximately 550 challans, totaling over Rs 1 crore in fines, to BS III petrol and BS IV diesel vehicles on the first day of their ban under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) III. Additionally, 4,855 vehicles were fined Rs 4.8 crore for lacking Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC). The police intensified checks, returning around 300 vehicles from borders. The ban aims to combat severe air pollution in the city, with further restrictions on non-electric-CNG buses and certain construction activities.
