IndiGo Pilots Safely Land Flight Amid Severe Turbulence and Hailstorm
On May 21, IndiGo's Delhi-Srinagar flight (6E-2142) faced severe turbulence and hailstorm near Pathankot. The pilots attempted to avoid the storm but were denied permission to divert. They decided to continue to Srinagar, flying manually as the aircraft encountered multiple warnings and severe turbulence, with a descent rate of 8,500 feet per minute. Despite the challenges, they safely landed the aircraft with over 220 passengers on board, although the nose cone was damaged. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is investigating the incident.
